Messaging basics
Event
An event is a named notification that something happened, usually accompanied by a payload containing the data needed to understand or respond to the change.
Also found under: Event name, Message
How it works
Names such as order.created describe a business fact, while a payload identifies the affected record or carries a small update. Stable naming and explicit payload fields make consumers easier to maintain. A realtime event can prompt a fresh API read; it does not need to contain the complete database record.
In a Pubb integration
Pubb's publish API uses channel, name and data fields. Client handlers bind to the event name within a subscription, while connection and membership events describe the messaging lifecycle.
Publish an eventA practical example
Publish name: stock.changed with data: { productId: 'sku-42', available: 8 }. The receiving product view updates that stock count.
