Messaging basics

Publisher

A publisher is the part of an application that sends an event into a messaging system so that interested subscribers can react to it.

How it works

A publisher chooses the destination, event name and payload. It should publish facts that the application has already accepted, rather than using a notification as a substitute for saving data. Publishing successfully and every recipient processing the event are different stages of the workflow.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb publications come from a trusted backend using the app secret. The HTTP API accepts a channel name or a list of channels and returns an acceptance response for valid publications.

Publish an event

A practical example

A payment handler saves an invoice in the database, then publishes invoice.created with its ID. Connected clients can fetch the complete invoice through the application's authenticated API.
