JSON

JSON is a text format for representing objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans and null, widely used to exchange structured data between applications.

Also found under: JavaScript Object Notation, Serialization

How it works

Serialization converts application values into this wire format, and parsing reconstructs values on receipt. JSON does not preserve every language-specific type: dates usually become strings, and functions are not data. Validate incoming fields and agree on a stable shape rather than trusting arbitrary parsed content.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb HTTP publications use JSON with channel, name and data fields. Native WebSocket clients must also follow Pubb's documented packet format, including fields that contain serialized JSON strings.

Publish an event

A practical example

An order event carries a string orderId, a numeric version and an ISO timestamp string. Both a JavaScript client and a Kotlin client can interpret the same field contract.
