HTTP API

An HTTP API exposes application operations through URLs, methods, headers and response codes, allowing software to exchange data using a request-response model.

Also found under: REST API, REST endpoint, API endpoint

How it works

A request carries an operation such as publishing an event, and the response reports its result or acceptance. Authentication headers identify the caller's authority. REST is an architectural style often associated with HTTP APIs, but HTTP alone does not imply every REST constraint is met.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb uses HTTP for server-side event publishing and channel authorization. Publishing sends JSON to /api/apps/:appId/events with the app secret in a Bearer authorization header.

Publish an event

A practical example

Your backend sends a POST request containing channel, name and data, checks for HTTP 202, and records the publicationId returned by Pubb.
