Delivery & reliability

Delivery receipt

A delivery receipt is confirmation that a message reached a defined stage, such as a device or application handler. A read receipt is a separate signal about user interaction.

Also found under: Acknowledgement, ACK, Read receipt

How it works

Specify the stage whenever you use the word delivered. API acceptance, network transmission, handler execution and a person viewing content are different events. End-to-end workflows often require the receiving application to report its own acknowledgement to a backend that stores the result.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb's HTTP 202 response is publication acceptance, not a subscriber delivery or read receipt. Build application acknowledgements and persistence when your product needs those states.

Publish an event

A practical example

A client displays a notification and calls your backend with the notification ID. Your backend records the acknowledged state and can publish a separate update to the user's other devices.
