Client SDK
A client SDK is a library intended for the user-facing side of an application, commonly handling live connections, subscriptions and incoming event callbacks.
Also found under: Browser SDK, Mobile SDK
How it works
Client code is distributed to users and can be inspected, so it cannot keep a shared server secret confidential. A client library should operate with public configuration and obtain restricted permissions through a trusted backend. Lifecycle cleanup prevents duplicate listeners and unnecessary open connections.
In a Pubb integration
Pubb client integrations use an app key and request authorization for private and presence subscriptions. Consult the specific SDK guide for its connection and reconnect behavior.
Choose an SDKA practical example
A React view creates or reuses a Pubb client, subscribes when the view needs data and removes its listeners when the view closes. Secret-bearing publication code stays on the backend.
