Authentication & security

App ID

An app ID identifies an application resource in a platform, allowing API requests and management operations to target the correct application.

Also found under: Application ID, appId

How it works

An identifier tells a system which object is involved; it does not prove that the caller may use that object. Treat authorization as a separate requirement even if IDs are hard to guess. Keep the app ID distinct from public client keys and secret server credentials in configuration.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb publishing URLs contain the app ID, while the Authorization header contains the app secret. WebSocket clients connect using the public app key, which is a different value.

Set up application credentials

A practical example

Configure PUBB_APP_ID on your backend to construct /api/apps/YOUR_APP_ID/events. Supply PUBB_APP_SECRET separately as the server credential for that request.
