Messaging basics

Realtime messaging

Realtime messaging delivers updates to connected applications as events happen, allowing interfaces to change without a page reload or a repeated request for new data.

How it works

A backend produces an event after something changes, and interested clients receive it over a live connection. Realtime describes this interactive delivery model; it does not mean zero latency or a guaranteed deadline. Network conditions, server work and rendering still affect when a person sees an update.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb connects server-side HTTP publishing to WebSocket subscribers. Use it for the live part of your application while keeping authoritative records and history in your own backend.

A practical example

After saving an order's new status, publish order.updated. A connected tracking page receives the event and refreshes the displayed status without the customer reloading it.
