Polling
Polling is a technique in which a client repeatedly requests current data on a schedule to discover whether anything has changed.
Also found under: Short polling, Periodic refresh
How it works
Short intervals can improve freshness but generate requests even when nothing changes. Long intervals reduce traffic while making updates appear later. Polling remains useful for infrequent data, simple recovery paths or systems where a persistent connection is unavailable.
In a Pubb integration
Pubb's live events can replace repeated requests for change detection. Your application may still fetch an initial snapshot and refresh durable state after reconnecting, because event delivery is not a history API.
Connect a clientA practical example
Instead of requesting an order every two seconds, load it once and listen for order.updated. Fetch it again after a reconnect to repair any missed changes.
