Performance & limits

Bandwidth

Bandwidth describes data-transfer capacity over time, commonly measured in bits or bytes per second. Event size and recipient count both affect the bandwidth a realtime application needs.

How it works

Do not confuse a byte rate with a monthly transfer allowance. A modest number of large events can use more capacity than many compact updates. Outgoing traffic also grows with fan-out, so evaluate typical encoded payload sizes and peak audience size together.

In a Pubb integration

Pubb plans include event bandwidth limits in addition to connection and operation capacity. Publish compact changes or resource IDs, and deliver large files through your application's storage and download flow.

A practical example

Sending a roughly 2 KiB payload to one thousand subscribers involves roughly 2 MiB of payload copies, before protocol overhead and other traffic are considered.
